15 hardy souls turned out for this Pre Millennium Trundle set by Max from a car park near Lymm Hotel. Making full use of the footpaths and mud available the trail wound its way through Statham and round the Lymm Dam back to the start. There were no complaints about the mud as the roads and pavements were a sheet of ice and stability was at a premium. Back to Max's for trough and beer.

Martin H set tonight's trail from the Antrobus Arms but could not be there on the night. Having taken Brook ( I can't see how CH3 trails ever work) on to help lay it and act as hashmeister on the night the expected result occurred. The trail ran brilliantly. It was slightly foggy on the night but 3 ft above our heads everything was clear. Shame we wern't the Harlem Globetrotters. The roads were firm the mud was soft and the really soggy bits matched the trades description. We trailed through Antrobus 3 times from different directions with much zigging and zagging and reversals. The FRB's got sufficient wrong to keep us together to the end. An excellently planned and executed trail. The beer in the Antrobus proved to be in fine fettle to round off the night for the 22 hashers.

Report on 3.Nov.99

The trail was set by FigLeaf And PeeWee from near the 'Bird in Hand' at Knowles Green, Mobberley on a clear starlit night. Approximately 23 hashers were on hand to give the Wagster a send off to New Zealand. The trail took us off in a Northerly direction and soon we were crossing mud and small bridges until we were on the Moss when the going got soft. Well managed from the start we lost half of the pack in double quick time only for them to reappear 20 minutes later from a completely different direction. (Must try Harder Mike!) After much looping we appeared near the Frozen Mop much to my surprise and we then proceded to the run-in. Back to the Eden domicile for some excellent curry and fish pie and a brill chockie cake. Ian was sent on his way with all the best from the CH3 to the other CH3 (Christchurch Hash NZ). Those not there missed a great evening

Adrian L set a trail from Booths Car park in Knutsford. By many devious turns and moves he took us through the green tracks of Knutsford. After an excellent trail it was off to Superb Chili and Apple crumble as prepared by Dot. Adrian then showed the shots of his climbing and walking trip to the evident pleasure of all present.

Report on Hash Weekend 9/10 Oct.99

With Mr Jones crocked the Saturday trail was organised by Steve Kershaw. Off went the brave 16 back up the road towards Leek for a couple of miles and then away we went on trail. It started damply underfoot and progressed to mega clarts. The ground sucked... and it took a while to get the shoe out of it again. The weather stayed fine generally and we had some brilliant views across Derbyshire. Back to the hotel was then a priority as The England v All Blacks game was due to start. A goot shower to remove the mud and then retired to the bar for some early drinking before going for the meal and continuing with alcohol until the early hours.

Sunday started blearily with a wait for breakfast as the hotel chef was late then getting ready for Prof Shiggy's Sunday Orienteer. The Weather was brilliant with bright sunshine to shift the hangover. Needless to say I managed to get lost and arrive back late for the check in,,, but not as late as Mike. The point count on Tuesday will be interesting as to how the Prof ajusts the marks. Photos

Rob S took us on an unusual hash for him... There was hardly any mud. Set from a favourite, the Stag at Warford, he looped us several times teasingly close to the pub before bringing us home at 9:15.

Report on 14.Sept.99

Dan took us to the west of the county, Higher Poynton and into (to me) new territory. He made excellent use of the terrain and canals and eventually took us into Lyme Park for a roam. The pub, although modern, gave reasonable beer

Report on 7.Sept.99

Dave Lever is working Hard setting trails to catch up from his soujourn in Chicago. This was an interesting little number with 29 hashers and only 4 dogs. It was in the order of 10 K with many checks but on a warm evening with torches coming into play for a major part of the trail it moved at a fair lick. We were back at the very attractive pub working on our Burtonwood at 9:15.

Report on 24.August.99

Dave Taylor laid a trail from the Plough at Whitegates. This is an excellent pub tucked off the road with a good array of trails. Although it threatened rain it stayed fine throughout but being one of DTs trails it moved at a pace. 'Prof Shiggy' provided visitor support with the aid of a map and his good knowledge of short cuts.

Report on 27.July.99

The trail today was from the Hack abode. The hare put his thinking cap on and set 31 hashers on a trail for the navigationally challenged. Making excellent use of the footpaths he had the pack disappearing up its own short cut more than once. The heifers in one field were extrememly curious as to why this strange herd chose to stampede through their field not once but twice. The run in took us to the barrel of excellent Weetwood Beer and a great barbie on a full mooned evening.

Report on 20.July.99

The trail was from the 'Barn Owl' near Lymm and there were 27 and 5 dogs to go for Max's first set since the 'horse incident'. The weather stayed bright for the trail of 23 checks and about 9km and, wonder of wonders, we got away promptly. I kept with the tail and the trail worked well to keep us together. We did, however, run in before 9 o'clock. Much drinking was done by all.

Report on 13.July.99

The twisty trail of the terrible two, Rob & Tim, had a slightly dank, damp, feeling this year. Set from the residence of the tall one we were numbered according to ability and then told to create mixesd ability teams. We were issued with maps and a series of questions to answer and sent on our way with instructions to be back for 9:15 or we lost points. Two visitors (Brian from Milan and one other) were roped in to a team and we were off.

Those more experienced with the genre immediately discounted all the further points and set off for the closer ones. The event got damper and eventually it was declared a draw. Half of one team got every thing but arrived back at 9:45 as did the visitors. The food was great as was the beer.

Report on 06.July.99

Set by Hilary the start point was the Poacher at Bickerton-on-the Hill, way down the A49 and then along the Wrexam road. We started well with the Lymm bus arriving early(!!) and eventually about 22 + 2 dogs set off. (Several regulars had been on a 27 mile weekend trail doing the Welsh 3000s (a bit like munroe hopping but gentler) and had not made the Hash). The trail led us across fields and then up the hill and then, bravely, past the pub again. No one ran in!!
Plenty of fields and lots of cattle with the bulls occupied. The trail went well and we finished reasonably together.

Report on 29.June.99

This was one of Rod's Delamere forest tours starting from the Carriers at Hatchmere. Deja vu in abundance as we crossed our route several times but it was comfortable underfoot with the forest floor. A difficult trail to describe but excellent.

Report on 22.June.99

The trail was from the Hidden Nursery at Lower Peover. The hares, Nick & Heather, led out a mere 23 hashers and 2 dogs on Roger's birthday trail ( the big cinquante). We travelled out to the motorway for the first check (to Preston or Birmingham?) but it was across the fields for the shiggy hunt. It was trying to rain but, being Tuesday night, knew better than to succeed. Over the railway line, across fields, through mud, under the railway, across the M6 the pack made its merry way scattering hither and yon (mostly yon in my case, dear reader). Eventually we wended our way back to the cars to take our clothes off to change then over to Roger's for beer and wonderful hot food (especially the crumble). see photos Photos

Report on 8.June.99

It was a sunny evening, a slight cool breeze, and we were in Winsford at the Wharton Park. It was a little ominous that co-hare Ken was wearing tracksters. (nettles, barbed wire??) Would I survive after a week eating my way round the 'Pas de Calais'

Still off we set in many directions looking for clues. Then a cry 'Hiho saliver away' Ken ('The CycloPath') was on his mountain bike....but there are no mountains in Winsford!!. Co-hare Lynn was, however, afoot and tending to the back.

The trail went well. A fair splattering of shiggy and strangely we went nowhere a bike couldn't get to. Eventually we returned to the hostlery and much ale was consumed.

Report on 27.April.99

A Trail was laid by Roger from a pub we have not been to for a long time The Bears Head at Brereton Green. The pub was good and the beer was excellent and varied from Fullers to Worthington. The evening was beautiful, warm spring-like no clouds or breeze and although the trail was short on checks (and those all 2 way) and thus quick moving it was about 5 mile. This did leave a bit of a gap between FRBs and TECs and but for the muster point would have been well stretched. There was a suitable amount of clarts BUT WE DID NOT NEED OUR TORCHES for the first time in 99

Report on 13.April.99

Nick (I'm only following orders) and Heather (on-on sec) set a trail from the Bleeding Wolf at Scholar Green Near Alsager. The trail was across bits not covered before with use of two canals and a teasing feint toward Mow Cop. The night was chill but with clear sky and none of the snow that was affecting other parts of the country. We had daylight enough not to need the torches until 8:35 which was great. An uncalled for remark about how dry it had been proved fateful as we then proceeded though several wet and muddy fields before running in to the pub car park. A good trail which kept off the chill. The Robinsons which followed was much anticipated and appreciated.

Report on 16.March.99

I Did IT. For the first time in weeks I managed to run the same hash as everyone else AND finish at about the same time. Tony E set one of his gallops from the Park Gate Tavern at Over Peover. 26 present and 4 dogs for a fine warmish March night. Last week we hashed from the next pub (The Whipping Stocks) and the conditions were completely different. At the Stocks it was cold windy and as predicted for Rob S.. MUDDY. I got lost again for that. Tony's was dry underfoot even along fields and footpaths and we mostly kept together as a pack. It was a shame I was driving as the Sam Smiths was all of £1.24 per pint. Probably cheaper than the Orange drink I consumed.

Report on 2.March.99

Tonights trek was from Mike & Pam's in Mobberley. Again the weather changed from torrential downpour all day to a clear starry night with bright moonlight. The trail started well and was mostly dry for the early stages but it was more than made up for, by the last few fields. These were of the keep-moving variety. If you stopped you sank... but without the band playing but fortunately also without Leonardo di Capprio....Mind you there was a load of bullocks roaming about the place. Back to M&P to wash off the clarts and then in for some excellent Chili con carne and beer. Get it down..

Report on 16.feb.99

This trail was set at short notice by Mike Murray with assistance of Richard (most disorganized trail of 1998 winner) Set from Th'ouse at Top at Kelsall this started with Mike going off with those who wanted a more relaxed route. Half of those it was intended to help were relaxed enough to be late and had to trail with the rest of us. The usual Tuesday rules applied.. It stopped raining before the hash started and didn't start again until we had finished changing in the car park. Of the hash itself I'm a bit vague. At the sixth or seventh check El and I were asked to hang back for some wrong checkers to catch up. By the time they got to us we'd lost the pack and took a wrong guess on the trail. We continued on regardless. Me , El, Richard G and Ray 'Manawa' Humphies with his faithful Hound 'Monty'. We had a good trail and were stopped by someone in a 4x4 who possibly thought we were out 'lamping' hares. We got to the 'Boot' and began the climb back up the hill by the footpaths. We eventually appeared on the road at the 2nd check and saw the lights of the FRBs approaching so we ran in and partook of the brown nectar.

Report on 9.feb.99

This trail was from the Big Lock in Middlewich. A goodly number of hounds (both human, 27 ? and canine 6) turned out for the InterBirthday. Heather on Monday and Dickie Dockie Dave on the Wednesday. We were warned there would be questions after so STAY AWAKE!!. Traces of Monday's snow remained underfoot and the sky was clear of clouds. It would be perfect except, as usual, it was night dark and below freezing. I wimped out and wore THREE layers. We set off into the night across the main road and checking was underway. Initially it was about town then we set off down the canal (Shropshire Union) and crossed into the edges of countryside. It didn't last and we magically reappeared at the third check and off on another loop Not! After much looping we were back on one of the canals . (Check at the bridge...no not that one the one after I Think?... Oh no it's the next one.) Keep an eye on Nick as a foot hare ("I'm only following orders") He occasionally creeps down the ON before it's called. Off the canal a quick loop round town again and back to the canal in the other direction. (Which bridge was it again?) Eventally:- astute trail following got us back to the pub to change in the car park and in for some Tim Taylors. Good trail...good ale.

Report on 2.feb.99

Set by Max and Grutel from the 'London Bridge' at Stockton Heath this trail went west from the start. Warmish night no rain since it was set so all markers were still down. Plenty of loops and an eventual 36 checks were gone through. The best bit from the hares point of view was them not noticing the path through someones garden. Every one stayed together and finished within 3 minutes of each other. Even I enjoyed it.
